Who are we?

The Saint Methodios Faith and Heritage Center was born from a vision that began in 1990, when His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios sought to create a sacred space where Orthodox Christian youth could grow in faith, form lifelong friendships, and connect with Christ in the beauty of God’s creation. That vision became reality  through the establishment of the Boston Diocese Camp (BDC), now known as the Metropolis of Boston Camp (MBC), nestled on more than 300 acres of pristine forestland in Contoocook, New Hampshire.

As MBC flourished over the next decade—welcoming thousands of young people to summer and winter camp programs—its transformative impact on youth inspired an expanded vision: to create a retreat center that would offer the same spiritual depth, peace, and hospitality to families, adults, and community groups year-round.

In 1998, that dream came to life with the opening of the Saint Methodios Faith and Heritage Center. Designed to offer a beautiful and welcoming space for Orthodox Christians and visitors of all backgrounds, the Center includes 35 private guest rooms with modern amenities, a grand Great Room with cathedral ceilings and a fireplace, and various common spaces including a kitchen, library, and breakout rooms. Overlooking a peaceful lake and surrounded by nature, the Center has become a destination for family camps, parish retreats, clergy gatherings, and ministry events throughout the year.

While MBC remains a vital ministry housed within the property, the Saint Methodios Faith and Heritage Center has grown into an independent organization dedicated to offering spiritual renewal, hospitality, and formation for all ages. The Center now serves as a year-round home for retreats, conferences, and events—supporting the evolving needs of the Orthodox Christian faithful and extending hospitality to other Christian and nonprofit organizations.

Rooted in the legacy of camp ministry and guided by the same commitment to faith, fellowship, and growth, the Saint Methodios Faith and Heritage Center continues to expand its mission: to be a place where all who visit encounter peace, community, and the presence of Christ.
